Reiki is ideal for use with animals, for we cannot 'speak' with them to ask what is bothering them. When a treatment is begun, the animal controls it, accepting the energy as it is most comfortable for them. Reiki always goes to the source of the problem, and always works for the highest good of the client.
Each treatment, with each animal, is an individual experience. Reiki works on the physical, emotional, and mental levels to bring the body, mind and spirit into balance. This means that the energy works on the muscular-skeletal, circulatory, nervous, digestive, and immune systems, including all internal organs on the physical level. On the emotional level, it works to release and balance stress, anxiety, tension and forms of depression. On the mental level, Reiki helps to integrate the right and left hemispheres of the brain, improving mental clarity and concentration.
For example, if an animal has acute pain, the focus is to heal physically. An animal with a chronic condition will need healing on both a physical and emotional level. For those experiencing depression, the Reiki will work as needed on the physical, emotional and mental levels.

Reiki's effects are cumulative. It often takes multiple sessions, and the body must have time to process the healing at each level. The number of sessions needed is often related to the animal's size and the length of time a condition has been present.
Some animals live too far away for hands-on treatment(s). Distance healing is useful in these situations, and when schedules are too busy. Alternating hands-on and distance treatments can also be quite cost effective when multiple healing sessions are necessary.Distance treatments are quick to schedule, therefore perfect for emergency situations.Similarly, if an animal seems to be coming down with something, or in need of support between treatments, distant healing can provide what is needed.
