What is Reiki?

Reiki, pronounced "RAY-key", is a Japanese technique for relaxation and healing. The word itself means universal life energy. It is a hands-on healing art that taps into the energy flow referred to as ki in Japan, chi in China and prana in India. Many ancient cultures believed that life energy flows through the body, deeply affecting our entire being. Current research strongly suggests that energy does extend throughout and beyond the physical body, and that disruptions or imbalances in its flow correlate to physical, mental and emotional illness.

Reiki is both gentle and powerful as it addresses both chronic and acute conditions. As health care practitioners are becoming more aware of Reiki and its benefits, it is growing as a presence in health care facilities for pre- and post- surgical care, pain relief, relief of side effects from chemotherapy and more. It is not a tool to diagnose illness, nor is it massage.

What happens during a session?

During a session, clients lie fully-clothed on a Reiki table in a relaxing environment. I place my hands in a series of hand positions on or above the body. The universal life energy flows through myself to where it is needed in the client's body. A session is generally 60 - 75 minutes. Other than relaxation, one may feel warmth, tingling, relief of pressure, and may even fall asleep.

REIKI CERTIFICATION CLASSES

Reiki I                  $150.
Reiki II                 $200.
Advanced Reiki     $150.
Reiki Master         $400.

Classes are taught one-on-one. Price includes manual and hand-outs needed for class, as well as certificate of achievement upon completion to be displayed in your home or office.
